bringing the community together
Rattlesden Cemetery is owned and maintained by Rattlesden Parish Council, which aims to provide an attractive, peaceful and safe environment for visitors. In addition, the Cemetery is maintained in accordance with guidance from Suffolk Wildlife Trust, in order to encourage bio-diversity and, in particular, the wild flowers that bloom there in the spring. However, the parish council also has to bear in mind that most of the maintenance costs for the Cemetery are met by Council Taxpayers in the village and, therefore, it has a responsibility to keep those costs as low as possible.
In order to meet these aims, the parish council has to impose some requirements on graves and memorials. These are set out in the Cemetery Regulations (pdf 37k). The regulations apply to all new graves in the cemetery. No changes should be made to existing graves, if they would contravene the regulations.
